Research Summary

I am currently investigating the neural mechanisms underlying age related changes in spatial working memory. Through simultaneous electrophysiological recordings in the medial prefrontal cortex(mPFC) and hippocampus in rodents, I study single unit and network level activity during a spatial alternation task. By focusing on neural signatures of memory reconsolidation such as Sharp Wave Ripples, we aim to understand the coordinated activity between the mPFC and hippocampus leading to replay, planning and subsequent decision making. Futhermore, we look at how these mechanisms correspond to age-associated deficits in working memory tasks.
