John Streicher, Ph.D.

Pharmacology

Office: Life Sciences North 563

The Streicher lab focuses on molecular and cellular mechanisms of signal transduction downstream of the opioid receptors. The lab finds new signaling regulators, determines their molecular mechanisms, and how these mechanisms link opioid drugs to behavioral outcomes like analgesia. They then use this information to design novel drug discovery strategies to create new analgesic drugs without side effects like addiction and tolerance.

Research Interests

Studies the molecular mechanisms of opiod receptor signal transduction, with a goal of using these mechanisms to create novel drug discovery strategies that reduce the side effects of current opiod drugs
